Concepts for the \”Hard light\” effect

\”Kamala is a superhero fan with an imagination, particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel; Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home, that is until she gets superpowers like the heroes she’s looked up to.\” Trixter.de

The task was to help visualize ideas for Kamala\’s crystal-style \”hard light\” superpowers.

With a dark background there are many options, but here we first had to use a background image which was rather bright with a lot of sky showing. As later the effect would have to work in both, light scenes as well as dark scenes. So it was fun to try out ways to convey the powers of her \”hard light\” without relying on the beauty of contrast alone. For that we used among other things some distortion in the surrounding areas + added prism/rainbow lights.
